San Francisco-based designer Nicole Hollis creates the Chaparral chair as an homage to the native Northern California tree. Drawing inspiration from the rigidity of the tree trunk, Hollis engages traditional wood-crafters to carve the feet out of the hard solid wood. A sinuous seat upholstered in soft boucle wool spouses the curves of the wood as it sits delicately on the two trestle legs.
