Formidable husband and wife team Tobia and Afra Bianchin Scarpa created interiors and furniture that embraced the materials of each design and the interplay of technology and aesthetics. They met studying architecture at the University luav di Venezia, graduating in 1957. The Monk chair is one of many distinctive and highly regarded designs from the pair. Its humble form is comprised of two key materials, solid walnut legs with a black leather seat and backrest. Sold as a set of six. Refined, functional and comfortable, our six are in good vintage condition, the wooden frame and legs show some marks and signs of use. The leather seat and backrests is structurally sound with some surface wear and patina across the surfaces and edges.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
